                                            RDA NEW CLASS FAQ’S

  • 1)Age:   Our classes are for adults, and therefore aimed at people over the age of 16.
  • 2)Do I need a partner?:  We have all seen “Strictly”, and can see that Ballroom and Latin dancing is done in pairs, so on the whole, you generally need someone to dance with. The pairings can be “same sex”, it makes no difference.  We are unable to provide partners should you come on your own.  You may? find someone to dance with from within the class, and sometimes your teacher may find time to dance with you, if you are single, but please remember that the primary function of the teacher is to teach the group as a whole, and not get sidetracked by dancing with all the singles. Where possible, please try and bring a partner or friend to dance with. If you are unable to do so, please come along and we will do whatever we can to help you. We do not encourage or enforce partner changes during dance classes. In general, the partner you come along with, will be the partner you dance with for the duration of the lessons.
  • 3)  Attendance:  What if I can’t come along every week?. Your progress will depend on your attendance and commitment. Obviously if you are able to attend every week, you will progress at a faster rate than someone who’s attendance is less predictable. The teacher will endeavour to keep the classes moving forward at a pace that is comfortable (yet stretching) for the “majority” of the group of regular attendees. Should you feel you are starting to fall off the pace of the group, please speak to your teacher, as a “one off” private lesson here and there are normally all it takes to bring you back up to speed.
  • 4) Payment: We do not make you sign up for a course, or take payment in advance. We operate a “pay as you go” system. You pay on the door each week that you attend. (£6 pp at  time of print)
  • 5) Mode of dress: Dancing is an active hobby, so please wear clothes that are not too tight fitting, or restrictive to free movement. Sports wear and trainers are not ideal, or encouraged.
